I came across a 1999 marketing brochure for Phase II of City Homes of Edgemoor—called City Townes of Edgemoor in the original sales copy. It captures a moment when a new townhome community in the middle of Downtown Bethesda still felt like a novel idea.

What the Phase II brochure highlighted
The original materials described Georgetown-inspired brick and stone exteriors, brick-paved walks, generous ceiling heights, hardwood floors in the main living spaces, and an entry-level den with a full bath. Two-car garages were a major selling point for a home so close to the center of Bethesda.
Those details tell us what the builder was selling in 1999. Individual floor plans, finishes, elevators, garage configurations, and renovations vary today, so a brochure is a starting point rather than a substitute for examining a particular home.
What matters when comparing these homes now
The location is consistent; the experience inside each home is not. I would look closely at the floor plan, natural light and orientation, elevator access where applicable, outdoor space, the usability of the garage, and how the kitchen and baths have changed over time. Those differences can matter more than a broad community average.
